Eric Fuselier is an Environmental Scientist at Olsson where he conducts environmental impact studies and works with civil engineers and landscape architects to minimize the environmental impact from the infrastructure projects they design. Eric serves as a national director for Wild Ones: Native Plants, Natural Landscapes, a non-profit whose mission is to “promote environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration, and establishment of native plant communities.” Eric and his wife purchased an illegal dumping ground in eastern Benton County in 2014, and after cleaning it up and building their cabin with help from close friends and family, they have been working to establish native plants to replace all of the trash and invasive species that had taken over before purchasing it.

This program continues the series of free educational programs and workshops offered at the Eureka Springs Community Center and produced by the Eureka Springs Parks & Recreation, the Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalists, the Carroll County Master Gardeners, and Wild Ones – Ozark Chapter. These great groups have formed a collaborative to propagate native plants for use in Eureka Springs parks and to share their knowledge with the rest of us.

Native plant hikes and seed collection events will also begin this spring, with propagation of native plants in the community greenhouse beginning in the fall. Those who participate in volunteer workdays will receive free native seeds and native plants to take home with them.
